What is the first company you invested in?
I’ve been fortunate to work with many great founders and companies, but the first I invested in is Mathison, an end-to-end Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) hiring and retention platform. We met Co-Founders, Dave Walsh and Arthur Woods, in early 2020. In that time, and since, employers have become increasingly focused on DEI initiatives but most don’t know where to start or how to measure success. As experienced leaders in HR, recruiting and diverse community building, Dave and Arthur deeply understood the need; they stood out as founders committed to building world-class software to enable all companies to deploy an effective DEI strategy. Conversations with early customers further proved that there was unparalleled demand for software to support these efforts and that Mathison was fundamentally changing the cycle.
Do you have an investment ethos? Is there a portfolio company investment that exemplifies that ethos?
At the earliest stages, we are investing in visions for what the future could look like, and the people and stories behind them. At the same time, I am focused on identifying opportunities that have the potential to fundamentally transform major industries – be it solving an entirely unmet need or restructuring an antiquated process or workflow.
