Josh Sommerfeld

Josh joined Bain Capital Ventures in 2011. He focuses primarily on growth-stage investments in the healthcare, infrastructure software, and business services sectors. Josh particularly enjoys learning about niche markets and working with entrepreneurs to unlock their potential.

Prior to joining Bain Capital, Josh worked at Bain & Company in Chicago and Melbourne where he advised clients on a variety of strategic and business development issues in the computer hardware, health insurance and services, wireless telecommunications, and integrated oil and gas industries.

He received his BA with General Honors in South Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago in 2008. While at University of Chicago, Josh was Vice-President and Investment Committee Chairman of the Blue Chips investment club where he directed the investment activities of the club’s equity portfolio and developed a financial education program.

Josh is from Palm Beach Gardens, FL.  In his free time, Josh is a competitive endurance athlete, having finished several marathons and triathlons including Ironman Louisville in 2009. He also enjoys photography, theater, and travel.
