David invests in infrastructure software. He started coding in third grade (remember QBasic?) and studied EECS and physics at MIT. Previously he ran demand generation and product marketing at VMTurbo.

David joined Bain Capital Ventures in 2011 and invests in IT infrastructure software companies at all stages. His focus is on the systems required to deliver an application or service: the infrastructure (networks, storage, compute) and cloud platforms, security, compliance, middleware, databases, performance management, and application development. He looks for teams that are reinventing these systems to support exponentially growing data volumes, endpoints, and malicious actors. He blogs at

As an operator, David built the demand generation team at VMTurbo, a cloud and virtualization management company. He increased marketing-driven bookings from 5% to 30%, and improved marketing efficiency by 2x. Earlier in his career, David was a consultant with Bain & Company in Boston, working with clients in enterprise software and consumer goods.

David graduated from MIT with degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering. He lives with his fiancée in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood. Outside of work, he enjoys rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, skiing, and other activities insurers don’t like.
